About me

⭑.ᐟ dynamic, resilient, “of another time” °❀⋆⭑

Aria De Castro is an actor and musician from Mississauga, Ontario. She spends her free time watching Turner Classic Movies, listening to Eydie Gormé on her record player, and attending swing dances across the GTA. She lives every day like it’s an MGM movie musical– red lipstick and nails are essential final touches! Her best friend is her poodle pup, Alfalfa, who looks and acts like a real-life muppet; and she is happiest when by the ocean in Madeira, Portugal where her family is from. -`♡´-

As an actor and artist, Aria is passionate about intergenerational stories that explore disillusionment and morality via strong female representation. She is a recent graduate of the Theatre and Drama Studies Program at the University of Toronto and Sheridan College (2025) who is entering the Toronto theatre industry full steam ahead! Known for her nuance, humanity, and versatility in performance, Aria has played roles spanning from Mrs. Peachum in The Threepenny Opera to Calphurnia in Julius Caesar to Mrs. Wormwood in Matilda: The Musical. She is consistently inspired by the incredible coaches and artists she has studied/worked with.

Musically, Aria trained formally in singing and guitar for 13 years and she plays 7 musical instruments (guitar, piano, accordion, banjo, harmonica, autoharp, & ukulele). She also teaches music lessons to students of all ages both privately and through a music studio, spreading her love for creative expression to the next generation of artists.

As a professional jazz vocalist in Toronto, Aria has performed with various swing big bands (The Toronto All-Star Big Band; The Toronto Swing Shift Big Band) as well as her own group (The Aria De Castro Quintet) at musical venues across Ontario including the Palais Royale Ballroom, the Beaches Jazz Festival, the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, the Old Mill Toronto, Reid’s Distillery and more. She has also headlined musical events outside of Canada, all the way from New York, USA to Madeira Island, Portugal. Aria grew up dreaming of becoming like Helen Forrest, Jo Stafford, Ella Fitzgerald and all the other fabulous female vocalists of the Big Band Era. She feels incredibly grateful to be able to take inspiration from and honour these women in her work every day; continuously striving to help make space for other unapologetically passionate women in the arts.

Aria looks forward to continuing to dedicate herself to performing, teaching, and experiencing all art forms as she continues to grow in her personal creative expression. ₊✩‧₊˚౨ৎ˚₊✩‧₊
